Neuropsychological assessment is not typically covered by Medicare. One exception: for individuals under 25, some autism diagnostic appointments may be covered under the Complex Neurodevelopmental Disorder Services initiative.
Ongoing therapy and treatment. Rebates are available for therapy and treatment sessions through Medicare's Better Access to Mental Health Care (Item 80110) and Chronic Disease Management plans.
Private health insurance may also cover psychological treatment. The extent of cover varies by policy, so we encourage patients to review their plan directly.
Third-party funding. We also see clients funded by the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) and the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). Self-managed or plan-managed NDIS funding may cover neuropsychology services/assessment under Capacity Building, Improved Daily Living.
